Setting the Aperture Value
· When shutter speeds of 1. 3 seconds or slower are used, images are processed to eliminate noise after being taken. A certain amount of processing time may be needed before you can take the next shot. · You should set the [IS Mode] to [Off] when lowering the shutter speed and shoot with a tripod (p. 171).
What if the aperture value appears in orange?
If the aperture value appears in orange when the shutter button is pressed halfway, the scene has exceeded the correct exposure limits. You can also set the camera so that turning the ÷ or Ê dial changes the aperture value (p. 171).
Setting the Aperture Value
You can set the aperture to a value at which you want to shoot. The camera will set the appropriate shutter speed for the aperture value you set. B stands for "Aperture value", which refers to the size of the aperture opening inside the lens.
Set the mode dial to B. Make the setting.
Turn the ÷ dial to set the aperture value.

Safety Shift
With M and B modes, if you press the n button to display the 4 tab and set [Safety Shift] to [On], the shutter speed or aperture value is automatically adjusted for the correct exposure when it cannot otherwise be obtained. You can also set the camera so that turning the ÷ or Ê dial changes the shuter speed (p. 171).
